Grand Knight’s Message

Dear Brother Knights,

Well we are one month into the New Year and with the holidays over most of you are back to your old routine. Instead of going back to your old routine, how about starting a new one and getting involved with some of council activities?

This month we have Italian Night, Super Bowl, First Degree, Military Bridge, Blood Drive, and Grand Marshal’s Ball. All of these can use your support.

On February 18, we are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner - Chinese Auction. This “Live for Today Fundraiser”will benefit a 4 1/2 year old girl who has an incurable cancer. Again, this family can use your our and support.

On Friday, January 13, 2012, Chapter held their annual charity kick off. As you may know, Suffolk Chapter has been supporting the Sunrise Fund for the past few years. This is a Long Island based charity and all the money stays on Long Island. The Sunrise Fund was established to raise awareness about childhood cancer and to raise funds for specific projects including a respite center, playroom, extended support services, facilities and programs that meet their families growing needs, and vital research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancers. (For more information, see their web site www.sunrisefund.org).

I would like to make this a St. Regis charity of the month and ask you to get behind it. All the money we collect either from the jars at the council or checks that you send in, will go directly to the Sunrise Fund. Checks should be made payable to St. Regis Council and in the memo mark for the Sunrise Fund.

February 22 is Ash Wednesday, which marks the start of the Lenten season. Many people give up something for Lent. Instead of giving up something, why not take an active part in your favorite charity, community or church activitie?

I would like to thank the Squires for the great job they did on the Red, White and Blue Dinner Dance. A portion of the money raised went to the 9-1-1 Veterans charity.

Save the date: On March 25, the Columbiettes will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary with a dinner at the Mediterranean Manor in Patchogue. I hope to see all of you there.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all.

Fraternally yours,
