I hope to see you there !

Confirmation - St. Joseph's RC Church - On Monday, November 7, 2011, we will again be called on to participate as ushers when the Sacrament of Confirmation is conferred on our young parishoners. I will be asking for 8 volunteers to assist at one or both ceremonies - 9:00am and 2:00pm. Those who do both are invited to lunch between the ceremonies and a photo with the Bishop. The dress will be formal: tuxedo or black suit and tie. Please try to keep the date open.

Real Men Can Bake Sale
Once again, it’s time for St. Regis’ Annual “REAL MEN CAN BAKE” Sale - the chance to take over the kitchen and start rattling those pots and pans!

Some of our new members might not be aware of this annual event. The purpose of this fundraiser is to offset the costs for our annual Veterans Luncheon, which is held to honor the brave men and women who have served our great country and now reside at the Stony Brook Veterans Home. The total cost of the luncheon, including gifts for the Veterans and entertainment, runs between $400-500. The “Real Men Can Bake” Sale raised over $200 - along with very generous support from other groups within St. Regis Council, we were able to cover nearly the entire cost of the Luncheon.

Last year, we were sold out before the 10:30 mass. Brother Knights baked everything (with no help from their significant others), from cookies and cakes to pies - even Irish soda bread - in all shapes, sizes and flavors. Some were straight, some a little tilted, but each one showed the dedication and love of our members for our Veterans.

This year, we hope to get more members involved and to be able to offer our delicious creations to parishioners attending all of the masses at St. Joseph’s on that day. With your cooperation, we hope to raise enough to provide a really memorable day for the Veterans who have given so much and asked for so little.

A sign-up sheet will be posted at the Council as the sale date draws closer. I hope we can count on all of you to discover your inner chef and make a contribution to the sale.

For further information, please contact Chairman Ed Forsyth at 981-4699, email Efor716559@aol.com, or Gerry McMenamin PGK at 648-3090.

Thank you for being who you are!

flag Veterans Day Luncheon - Volunteers Needed flag

On Wednesday, November 16, 2011, St. Regis will be belatedly celbrating Veterans Day by hosting a luncheon for some residents of the Stony Brook Veteran's home. We would like to recognize these Vets for the sacrifices they have made in order to keep our country free. The luncheon will be from 11:00am to 2:00pm.

It would be a great help if we had volunteers to assist in transferring the Vets to and from their bus. Additional help will be appreciated to serve the lunch to the Vets.

For any more information or if you have any questions, please email Ed Forsyth at EFOR716559@AOL.COM or you can call me at home (631) 981-4699.

Thank you,
Ed Forsyth

Annual Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day Party

clover

Our annual Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day Parade was a big success. Thanks to all who attended and donated.

The food was great - Many thanks to Anne DiNero, Mike Kiernan and Brian Wimpelberg for your hard work. Everyone had a great time - the music had everyone up and dancing and the trivia had everyone thinking.

Thanks also to Mark Johnson Jr., Michael Guarascio, Danny and Joyce Purcell, Dan Jackson, PGK, Gerry McMenamin PGK, and his wife Rosemary, Bob Powers, Chris Alvanos, and Cosimo Scocco for helping setup, serve, and clean up.

We would be remiss if we didn't thank our wonderful wives, Stacey and Christine, for their help and for tolerating our spending so many hours getting ready for this party.

Fraternally,
Mark Johnson and Jimmy Tallman
